OUR PURPOSE
We believe that God has a definite purpose for the church, and that this purpose is expressed in two significant passages of scripture.
And He said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and foremost commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22: 37-40
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you … (Matthew 28: 19-20)
Five important aspects are mentioned in these passages:
“loving the Lord” is worship “loving one’s neighbour as oneself” is practical service “going and making disciples” is the process of evangelism and missions “baptising” is the process of incorporating into fellowship “teaching them to observe” is the process of discipleship and training
Therefore, the purpose of this church is to glorify God through reaching out to people, with a view to seeing them won to Christ, drawn into the life of the church, developed to Christ-like maturity, and empowered for a meaningful ministry in the church and a life of mission in the world.
