Our Beliefs

We believe that the Bible, both Old Testament (39 books) and New Testament (27 books), is the divinely-inspired written Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, and we accept these Scriptures in their entirety as the supreme and final authority for all matters of Christian faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17, 2 Peter 1: 20-21)

We believe in the existence of one God in three Persons - the Father. the Son, and the Holy Spirit - who is everlasting and unchanging. (Deuteronomy 6: 4, Genesis 1: 2,26, John 1: 1-2, 2 Corinthians 13: 14, Hebrews 1: 1-3, 8)

We believe in God the Father who is sovereign, eternal, and perfect. (Psalm 95: 3-5, Isaiah 40: 28, Matthew 5: 48)

We believe that the Son of God, who is Himself God, without any loss of His essential deity, became the man Jesus Christ through the activity of the Holy Spirit and through the virgin birth. We believe that He lived as a man without sin, that He died on the cross as a perfect and complete sacrifice, that He rose bodily from the dead, and that He ascended into heaven where He is now seated at the Father’s right hand interceding as the believers’ eternal high priest. (Matthew 1: 18-25, Luke 1: 26-35, John 1: 1-18, Luke 2:5 2, Matthew 2 7: 27-37, Luke 24: 1-43, Acts 1: 9, Mark 16: 19, Philippians 2: 5-11, Hebrews 9: 11-15)

We believe that the Holy Spirit, who is Himself God, is present in the world to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict people of their sin and need for the Saviour, to lead them to repentance, to regenerate and indwell those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord, and to guarantee them their eternal inheritance. We also believe that the indwelling Holy Spirit seeks to enable each believer to live in a manner worthy of his or her calling in Christ by manifesting the fruit of the Spirit in his or her life, and bestows one or more spiritual gifts upon each believer to prepare him or her for Christian service. (John 16:7-15, Acts 1:5,8, Acts 2:37-38, 1 Corinthians 12:4-13, Ephesians 1:13-14, Galatians 5:22-25)

We believe in the existence of spiritual beings known as angels who serve God. (Matthew 18:10, Hebrews 1:14)

We believe in the actual existence of the Devil and demons who chose to rebel against God's authority and are now the ultimate source of all evil, opposed to God and God's purposes, and seeking to tempt God's people away from the ways of God. We also believe that Satan and his demons were defeated through the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that they are ultimately subject to the purposes of God and will be confined forever to Hell. (Luke 10:18, Ephesians 6:11-12, Ezekiel 28:11-1, Matthew 12:24 and 1 Timothy 4:1-2)

We believe that human beings, both male and female, are created by God in His own spiritual image. We also believe that, through the rebellion and disobedience of the first human beings, this image was marred and that all people are now in a fallen sinful and lost condition which has separated them from God and caused disharmony between themselves. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 3:1-9, Romans 3:23)

We believe that human beings can never-make up for their sin by self-improvement or good works, and that salvation from the penalty and power of sin is offered as a free gift by God to all human beings on the basis of the work of the Lord Jesus Christ – His perfect obedience, His atoning death and His bodily resurrection. (Acts 22-24, Romans 5: 1-11, Romans 6:23, 1 Corinthians 15: 1-8, Ephesians 2: 8-9)

We believe that there must be repentance towards God and the confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in order to personally experience salvation. (Acts 2: 37-38, Romans 10: 9)

We believe in one holy universal Church composed of all such persons who, through faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are therefore united together as the Body of Christ, of which He is the head. We also believe that the local church is an expression of the Body of Christ, appropriate for that particular locality and that particular time. (Matthew 16: 16-18, 1 Corinthians 12: 13,27, Ephesians 1:2 2-23, Act 2: 4 1-47)

We believe that the immersion in water of those who have repented and believed, in response to the example and command of the Lord Jesus Christ, is a symbol of sharing in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Matthew 3: 13-17, 28: 18-20, Romans 6: 3-5)

We believe that the communion of the Lord’s Supper, celebrated in response to the example and command of the Lord Jesus Christ, is a memorial, until He comes again, of the sacrifice of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. (Mark 14: 17-25, 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26)

We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the personal glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the subsequent judgment of all people by Him. (1 Corinthians 15: 20-28, 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18, Revelation 19: 11-16, Revelation 20: 11-15)
